Ye Olde Jolly Sailor

The inn has been affectionately known as "The Jolly" by locals over the centuries. Since 1516 it has been a place of rest and recreation for seafarers and travellers alike.
Until about 120 years ago sea vessels used to moor right alongside the old part of the building, until land was reclaimed allowing for cottages adjacent to the pub to be built.
The present landlord has refurbished the Jolly to a very high standard, so much so that it has been described as some of the best accommodation in Looe.
Known to be haunted it features in many Cornish books and stories.
The main beam in the Jolly’s bar came from a French ship at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. It was captured and renamed the HMS Indifatigble.
This ship was eventually broken up and the landlord at the time had contacts in the dockyard and had the beam installed, where it still remains in the main part of the bar.

The bar is open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 12pm
