Holidays
at The Granary
The
Granary was a newly converted barn when we moved here in Autumn
1996. We fell in love instantly with the building and wonderful
location and we haven't changed our minds!
We offer
comfortable twin and double-bedded rooms, which are also available
for single occupancy. The bedrooms have beamed ceilings, are
central-heated and double glazed, and have tea and coffee making
facilities with fresh refrigerated milk available. Rooms also have
hairdryers and remote-controlled colour TV/DVD players, and we are
now able to offer hire of up-to-date mountain bikes.
We offer
a full English breakfast with eggs from our own hens, and we are
happy to provide a full vegetarian breakfast for vegetarians.
There are local pubs which do good meals for carnivores and
veggies. We are animal lovers and have cats, rabbits, hens and
ducks.
The
Granary only accepts people of sixteen and over in order to
maintain the peace and quiet of this wonderful location. |
Our lovely
local beach, Hemmick, is just down the lane from The Granary,
the next beach along going towards Gorran Haven is Bow or Vault
beach, a favourite for naturists and others who enjoy the
peaceful location. Going round the coast in the other direction
from Hemmick you will arrive at Caerhays or Porthluney beach. At
the back of the beach stands the very attractive Caerhays
Castle, used in a film version of Daphne du Maurier's "Rebecca",
and whose gardens are open to the public several times each
year.
During
breakfast the spectacular views over the beach and hills can be
enjoyed from our Dining Room, and perhaps the day's walk
planned.
By prior
arrangement, transport to and from St Austell bus and train
stations is available. Some guests have found it useful to
arrange with us to be driven to, or collected from, their day's
walk, enabling them to extend their stay with us. Drivers may,
of course, use our parking area. We have a heated drying room
for walkers' wet clothes.

We are
ideally located on this warm south Cornish coast for Spring and
Autumn breaks, and are open all year round.
Weather
permitting, guests are very welcome to sit out either on the
terrace next to the house, or at the lower end of the garden,
and perhaps enjoy a cup of tea and the splendid views after
their journey or day out.
